How does it work?
The Bareskin IPL laser treatment makes use of IPL laser technology. The machine emits a rapid light pulse called IPL (Intense Pulsed Light).
This light works by entering the skin surface and targeting the hair follicles.
The device's light emits a message to the hair follicles to stop the regrowth. Hair that stops growing is known as the "resting phase" of hair growth.
As a result, the hair sheds naturally and does not grow back. So by using the Bareskin Device regularly, you can keep your body hair-free and your skin ultra-smooth in the comfort of your own home.
Dr Joshua Zeichner, MD, explains it this way. "Lasers work by emitting a beam of light. The light gets absorbed by specific target melanin in the hair. In this case, the IPL light gets absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle to heat it and destroy it, so the hair does not grow back."

How does the Bareskin work?
Bareskin's home hair removal system uses a laser hair removal technology called - Intense Pulsed Light.
The light enters the skin and disrupts hair growth by instructing the hair follicle to remain in the Resting Phase, aka - No more hair growth.
- Using the device at home is as easy as watching Netflix: Have a warm shower or a bubble bath, and shave the areas you would like to target with your device.
- Plug the Bareskin device into the wall socket. Be sure you are sitting. Soft fan noise will come from your device, stating that it is on and ready to work.
- Hold the power button and select the intensity level. (Starting, begin with power level one for the first session and move higher with each session) As this technology uses laser technology, a bright light comes from the device. Please use your protective eyewear and don't look into the laser light.
- Place the laser head on the skin where you have shaved.
- Once you have completed your session, wipe down your device with a damp, warm cloth, and place it back into the box for safekeeping.

Does the Bareskin IPL device remove hair permanently?
No, it does not remove hair permanently, but it does remove hair for up to six months or more. If you use the device regularly, you can experience semi-permanent hair loss. When using the Bareskin device, you will need a regular treatment plan when you start. After a few months, the hair will disappear, and you must use a simple maintenance plan to keep the hair at bay.
What happens if I don't shave before IPL?
We advise that you shave before using your Bareskin IPL device on your body. This is because you need hair below your skin for the device to work as it should. But we strongly advise that you shave off the hair above your skin.
The laser will singe the hair, which may burn your skin. Our cosmetic doctors and dermatologist recommend shaving off any hair about 12 - 24 hours before you use the Bareskin Plus device. Shaving will prevent any skin damage or pain you may experience during your laser hair removal procedure.
May I use the Bareskin IPL more than once a week?
Yes, you can use the Bareskin IPL device more than once a week. However, when starting your hair loss journey, we suggest you use the Bareskin Plus+ IPL device at least 2 - 3 times per week for the first two months.
After that, you can temper the number of laser sessions to once a week after two months. Then, when all the hair has disappeared, you can use the device monthly. Dermatologist call this the maintenance protocol, which stops all future hair growth.
What will happen if I stop using the IPL laser hair removal device?
Nothing will happen at first, but after a few months, the hair suppressed by the IPL laser hair removal device will start growing again. If you don't want new hair to begin growing, we advise you don't stop using the device for long periods at a time.
Can I use Bareskin IPL for Brazilian?
Yes, you can use the Bareskin IPl for full Brazilian. The Bareskin IPL Plus device has been developed for all body areas except the upper face region(eyebrows). IPL laser technology is a tried and tested hair removal method and has been successfully used to remove hair on the groin or bikini area.
How long does it take for the Bareskin IPL device to start working?
As you may have realised, everybody is different. Each person has a specific genetic makeup and skin colour, different hair colours and hair density. However, hair removal specialists and dermatologists have noted that by using the Bareskin device, most people start seeing less hair after one month.
This is because each hair strand has a life cycle; some hair could be at the end of its life cycle and others at the beginning. The hair life cycle takes three months (100 days) from start to finish.
